In wig making, when constructing your lace foundation or wig base, it is important to make sure that all your seams are whipped (wig talk for sewing) correctly to avoid the piece from falling apart. Just like in dress making, a secure seam is essential. When whipping your seams you must ensure that you have a strong edge to whip together. If the thread is attached to the raw edge of your Swiss ...

Nice!!!
Just advertising no real content :( sad.
Hey it’s a taster trailer the full video on the website goes into much detail 😊
@@WAMStudio I checked your info. So i need to pay around 60 - 175 Euro/Dollar for a course on your webside to see how this 4 Seams work. Erm no thank you. I understand that you need to make money and thats ok. BUT i was right this was just a useless advertising teaser with no real content. Maybe next time writte it in to the Title thats a teaser/taster. But thank you.

@@WAMStudioHello, how are you?I love your every makeup content.your content is amazing but haven't not much views & subscribers.not sharing in social sites and not doing SEO.i can help you to make your goal fulfil.
Hi, what is the “point” knotting technique?
Hi point knotting is where you knot the ends of your hair shaft (the points or tips) instead of the root end. I cover this on the ‘learn to knot’ video on the online courses page of thewigsandmakeupstudio.com
@@WAMStudio Great, do you also cover under knotting?
Under knotting will be sure to follow in later videos. We have only just launched so plenty more to come 😃
Thank you, thank you, THANK you!!!
You are most welcome
What type of wire & fabric on the cage was used/
Hi it was a cotton covered milliners wire. I can’t remember the thickness though but it wasn’t the thick one
www.themakerss.co.uk/products/cotton-covered-steel-wire?currency=GBP&variant=37569096188094&Google%20Shopping&gclid=CjwKCAjw-b-kBhB-EiwA4fvKrEmJFjGlQf8-e7HjWOm5A5lGsCQBYxpgu6oQqbmQjkg-tfXOzonnnBoCA5gQAvD_BwE
It was this type we used. I popped in a link. It’s not the same company but similar wire
I'm glad to see this channel back!
It’s been a while and thanks. More content coming soon
His face said “receding hair line 😮 wtf!!!!” 😂😂😂
Funny wasn’t it 😃
Great video! Thank you
Pleasure
Thank you so much for sharing your technique. It has helped me. Your work is Beautiful!
I always braid it straight back in 6 to 12 braids. When you are dealing with fluffy curly hair....pin curls won't work.
Where are u based do you do in person training
We are London UK and I do run small classes www.thewigsandmakeupstudio.com check it out
Do you apply the perm before rolling the hair in the rods? Could you apply the perm without the rods and still make straight beard hair curl?
Roll first then lotion and no if you use lotion without rollers it won’t work 😃
I have a beautiful curly lace wig that is self destructing at the roots 😩 the return hairs are curly too, not easy to cut!
It’s worth just taking the time and doing very small sections at a time to remove them. Just don’t cut too short at front and partings as it will go too spikey. You can always use silicone products first before removing as it maybe backing up because silicone in there has been shampooed out
@@WAMStudio Thank you so much for responding. You are right I have washed out the silicone and just realized that last night. What products do you recommend? I have Silcone Mix conditioner but I remember it being heavy for my curly wig.
The serums are pretty good such as John Freda frizz ease or the products that state for frizzy hair. Just look on the ingredients and if silica is up on top you know it’s full of silicone. The serums will coat more.
ruclips.net/user/shortsuhs0zuu9fF4?feature=share
Hi, obviously you cant stick those straight pins into someones face, so when not using a mannequin head, how do you secure the rods to a persons face?
What perm solution did you use
Hydro perm I use 😃
About how much poly-fill and tape do you think you used? I'd love to do this with my class!
and what did you use to build the base?
About 2 large rolls of tape possibly 3 if a big head and cotton wool works better than poly fill as it taped firmer. The rolls used for cleaning babies behinds basically. The base is covered in cling wrap and paper over a bought malleable head block.
Please do more videos!
I’m just discovering your channel. What is that black & gold thing you’re using on the lace?
I think you are referring to the circumference ribbon. I use it to mark out the circumference and when padding it helps to not stretch out the wrap.
@@WAMStudio No, it looks like a pen you’re using to stitch the whole thing together. I hope I’m explaining it correctly uggg. 😩 I wish I could screen shot and circle what I’m trying to say.
That’s my ventilating needle. What you use for knotting wigs and sewing the foundations together
Oohhhh ok that what I was talking about LOL😂Thank you🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽♥️🕊
Alot Of Wasted Lace
Well done for being frugal with your lace. I should take a leaf out of your book 😃
Wow , and that’s the “ easy” part , I would not have the patience for this job. But someone’s gotta do it .
Hey it gets easier the more you make
What type of wires u use?
It is wig cage wire bought from www.thewigdepartment.com
WOW!!!!
Very amazing video, two months ago I buy the best quality product from newigstyle..com
I started using plastic bags, instead of wrap, because it's already a closed shape. The ones in the produce section are plenty big...you just shake out the last of the broccoli bits, slit one side open, about three quarters of the way, so you can breathe, and tape away! I like to put tape over the Sharpie lines, too, so they don't smudge, or transfer to the base!
Plastic bags would work a treat. A bit like a rain hat you can get that the old ladies wear. As long as that head shape and hairline is obtained. Not sure what we are all going to do when plastics are banned eventually. Back to the old school ways before plastic made things easier I guess.
I've never heard of a cotton line...is it a border? Does it keep the lace from distorting? My introduction to wigmaking was over the phone, from a friend, who was a wigmaker from San Francisco Opera, but eventually wound up at the Met. Since l had no points, he suggested staples..."put the lace on the block, and pull the shit out of it!"! That was almost forty years ago!
The cotton line is just to mark out the front hairline if you are sending it out to a knotter/ ventilator. No need for it if you are knotting yourself on the block. Staple gun? That sounds scary but if it works for you and the wig looks fabulous then why not.
im going to be making myself a human hair full lace wig, if i buy the hair on wefts and just cut the hair from that instead of undoing threads to release the full length will that eliminate the "backcombing effect" id have with the returns? i want sleek look. or does the return regardless rub against even if the root is removed.
Cutting the returns will remove the turnover and will stop the rubbing. If you are using weft hair make sure it remy as that will be sorted root to point. Non remy the hair is coated in silicone and mixed it different directions so when silicone is shampooed out the hair will start rubbing and back combing. I will cut out my returns where the little stick up bits can easily be disguised in the main body of the wig. The front edge and parting area leave longer. These areas are easy to comb out if backing up happens. Aveda Confixer gel is great for smoothing returns
@@WAMStudio what if im not sure if the hair is remy? it doesnt always say, if i keep my returns no longer than 2 inches will that help regardless of what human hair i have? also for synthetic what is the best type to look for the most realistic you can get? is henlon any good or should i go for futura?
I don’t know about brands of synthetic but you won’t have the problem of backing up with synthetic as there is no cuticle. If your hair doesn’t say remi it won’t be and it will be mixed roots and point. If you aren’t using remy it will not matter about cutting returns as eventually the whole wig will back up. None remy is basically cheaper brands. Buying hair is a mine field. Remy double drawn should be a guarantee of the roots and points in the same direction and that it should all be almost the same length and not mixed lengths
How long did this wig take to make ?
Kunal Bhatt I make the full lace foundation in 6-7 hours. That’s pretty industry standard. Thanks for the contact

This took me back to my wig making days.this step is not in most wig makers toolbox, I was trained in Bristol with Peter Owen in the 90s and all the steps you used in creating a wig is what he taught me. I was there for 5 months training on all aspects, from curling hair by boiling, colouring, etc, it was a great experience. I switched from being a head of department in theatre and Ballet to Film where my skills in period hairstyling and wig styling was lacking, my training made me a sort after stylist, as Salon hairdressers have no clue about creative hairstyling, period work nor wig styling and maintenance. I now teach all the skills they need to work successfully in Film, and I continue to work partime in film. Thanks for sharing. Hello, I just wanted to ask would this method work on yak hair? I am not sure what hair you have used. Thank you😊
Adrianna Odolczyk yak hair definitely that’s what I used
WAM Studio Amazing! I am doing a project for school from home and I am trying to find alternative ways of styling the facial postiche as I dont have the professional equipment at home. That video is a lifesaver, thank you very much.
Adrianna Odolczyk totally welcome
Can i use it on my moustache for making a proper shape
Hi. Would it be possible to sew it in the middle and then cut the excess off from each side? Thanks.
Hi. Are you ventilating thread as if it were hair in order to connect the pieces?
He’s using a technique called whipping. It’s when you sew using your ventilation needle. When you see this technique used you know you’re dealing with a true master wig maker.
Seems like it would make them stand straight up. Even longer returns stand out from the rest of the hair and are often a frustrating endeavor to get them to lay down.
Shea LaRoux that is true but it is better than the returns backing up in the base. The wig would be dressed do high would hide the returns. Not good for slicked down styles. That’s why I leave the front edge and parting longer to avoid the sticking up bits showing
Hello! Is a head wrap and custom head form necessary when making a wig using wefted hand tied extensions tha t don't involve any type of lace? If not what's the best way to get a perfectly fitting wig when making wig using wefted hair?
Lareshonda Treadway hi I would make a lace foundation that fitted the head perfectly and then sew weft onto that
video was too fast
Does the perm product react to the metal pins?
B _Nasty209 it hasn’t for me yet. I only ever use gentle solutions too. Well as gentle as you can get with a chemical perm lol
Hi and thanks for the video. Would you be able to post a link to the type of cotton wool that you are using to pad the wig block? The video was moving to fast for me to properly see. Thanks
